Forbes Magazine Says Everyone Can Podcast

Quote ::
Audacity had automatically formatted the sound in a file type unique to the program. It took some maneuvering to convert the file to MP3, the industry standard. I had to download a small file so that Audacity could handle the task.

After that, I was set and transferred to file to the Web.

Three minutes later, my podcast was on podblaze.com. I coerced a friend in New York to listen, just to make sure everything was working. It was. I even earned a compliment for my "on-air voice."

I had started small.

Thank you Podcast Insight :: Type of Content a Business Would Podcast

Thoughts ==> I'm actually putting together two podcasts today - one on how I traced my steps to find out how I ended up in iTunes without having submitted, and another to talk about what the benefits of podcasting are for business.

It's great when you're doing your research and find that someone already explained a point better than you ever could on three hours of sleep. :-D

Clip ==> "What Type Of Content Would A Business Podcast?
Here are a few examples.

From Podcasting News: Podcasters Featured on Apple Home Page

Clip ==> "In addition to the prominent placement on Apple's home page, podcasts have a major place in Apple's iPod marketing. They are calling iPods 'podcast ready'. The iPod photo page mentions podcasts at least five times."

Thoughts ==> Awwwww. Podlove.

PS- Don't forget to come by FreeTrafficTip.com tonight for a fresh podcast from me (yea. I know I haven't in ages. I promise to make up for it.)

In it I'll be explaining how I found out my podcast was in iTunes - and why it'll be a lot easer for you to get in than it was for me...

"The Freshest Podcasts on the Planet"

Thoughts ==> Here's another great place to ping when you podcast, complete with resources. Hopefully Pingomatic and Feedburner will support this soon.

How To Record Your Own Podcast with Audio Hijack

Clip ==>

Basic Set Up
1) Launch Audio Hijack Pro and create a new session.
2) Select Audio Device in the first popup menu of the Input tab.
3) Set the Input Device to the appropriate device, your microphone. You'll also want to set an Output Device, either a pair headphones (to avoid feedback) or Silence Output.
4) Now, adjust the settings in the Recording tab as you desire. For a talk program, an MP3 file of 64 kbps (MP3 Low) will sound great. You'll probably also want to edit the Tags section for your show - this information will be visible to listeners once they download the file and play it in their MP3 player.

Once you've got Audio Hijack Pro set as above, you're ready to go. Click the Hijack button, and then click Record and talk away. Everything you say will be recorded and if you need to, you can pause the recording by clicking Pause. When you're done, click Record again to finish the recording.

Thoughts ==> Clear guide that shamelessly promotes its own product. And I'm all for that. :-D

Haven't tried it but $32 doesn't seem like a waste to find out if you can create a quality podcast that easily.

Podcasting News :PodcastDesign.com Signs 6 Clients in First 48 Hours of Existence

PodcastDesign.com makes podcasts so you don't have to - seens a great idea for people who have the knowledge but not the time- though you may have to wait until they have more time for you:

"The HTML was written, the pages were formed, and the site was FTPd. It then took less than 2 hours for David Lawrence, the founder and lead podcast designer for PodcastDesign.com (http://www.podcastdesign.com), to sign his first client, and less than 2 days to sign 5 more."

At less than $300 for a studio set up, more services like this could be a Godsend to content publishers who want to deliver in this format and don't have the time to dedicate to it every week.

You can do it yourself for free, it's true. But in two months when my content will be ready, and I'm too busy to even think of putting together my weekly podcast myself, I might have to give these guys - or someone like them - a call....

Some information on recording interviews for a podcast

I saw this at MacDevCenter.com: last week, a tips article on recording a podcast, focusing on turning interviews into podcasts in particular.

Here's a quote. : "Podcasting could be seen as just another way to push audio to people who want to listen to it, but it's really a unique combination of subscription and publication.

My stumbling block? Turning interviews into podcasts using entirely digital production methods that would allow me to make phone calls and record directly to MP3 for simplicity. I worked it out, but not until I went through a lot of trial and error that I'll save you from."
